Course Title: Planning for Off-Site Nuclear Emergencies
Who Should Attend
- Emergency Planners who play a part in preparing plans to deal with a nuclear emergency from a fixed nuclear site.
- Managers and emergency planners responsible for the operation of fixed nuclear sites in the UK.
- Those with a national, regional or devolved government responsibility for nuclear emergency policy.
- Others who need to have an understanding of the emergency arrangements to deal with the effect of nuclear emergencies on the UK population.
Aim
To examine multi-agency nuclear emergency planning and management within the regulatory framework.
Objectives
By the end of the course delegates will be able to:
- Describe the nuclear emergency planning arrangements in UK
- Identify risks associated with radiation and describe how they may be managed
- Describe the role of the Strategic Coordinating Group (SCG) and the Off Site Strategic Centre
- Describe the content of off site plans as required by REPPIR and licensing arrangements
- Evaluate the challenges involved in planning for recovery.
