Who Should Attend
This course is intended (a) for civil protection staff who need to gain an understanding and experience of geographic information systems (GIS) to evaluate its relevance to their professional role, and (b) for GIS staff who need to understand civil protection requirements and specific technical and application issues in that context. Staff from these two groups within a single agency are encouraged to attend together.
Aim
To provide an understanding of the benefits of using GIS in civil protection.

Pre-requisites
Some knowledge of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and associated civil protection duties is assumed and delegates may benefit from attendance at Introduction to Civil Protection.
