Since 1989, it has been the Government's centre for running short seminars, workshops and courses on an inter–agency basis in the field of crisis management and emergency planning. Its diverse and dynamic programme attracts in excess of six thousand delegates per year from a wide range of backgrounds providing a national forum for discussion and the sharing of good practice.

CENTREX

Centrex is the working name of the Central Police Training and Development Authority. We are helping to develop policing by identifying good practice and sharing this knowledge nationally and internationally. We aim to respond directly to the needs and demands of the police services of England and Wales to help develop policing. We do this through the provision of training and expert advice, from written guidelines to analytical and operational support in the field. Centrex is a non-departmental public body, funded by an annual grant in aid from the Home Office.

Scottish Police College

On 1 April 2007, the Scottish Police College became part of the Scottish Police Services Authority (SPSA). The SPSA was created as a non-departmental government body by the Police, Public Order and Criminal Justice (Scotland) Act 2006 and provides expert policing and support services to Scotland's eight police forces and criminal justice community, including training, forensics, communications, and data and information technology.

Scottish Resilience Development Service

The Scottish Resilience Development Service (ScoRDS) is the training and development arm of Scottish Resilience: Civil Contingencies Unit. It works with the emergency services and other responder agencies to ensure that Scotland is prepared to respond to any major emergency.
