Projects – Assured Information Management (AIM)

Senior User Departments: MoD, PITO

The work of this project supports improved information sharing across Government Departments. It is an important part of achieving a sustainable UK IA Sector in terms of identifying solutions and opportunities for new capabilities for industry to exploite:

• It will deliver a means of accessing on a single terminal, information held on different security domains (Virtualisation), thereby reducing equipment and real–estate costs, as well as tools, techniques and approaches to satisfy the pan–government need for home remote working in support of business continuity.

An initial Remote Access and Virtualisation concept demonstrator built at PITO – the Police IT Organisation – was recently shown to a range of government customers. Other pilots will involve other major organisations, e.g. MoD.

In addition to the technical research work that has been initiated within AIM, the Project has also delivered a technical paper detailing Architectural Guidance on content filtering to potential future customers throughout Government.

The Aim Project has also produced Information Assurance Awareness Guides on the following subject areas:

• Data Export
• Host Intrusion Detection Systems
• IT Architecture and Attack Analysis
• Information Security for Impact Gateways V1.0
