Current UK Information Assurance capability needs to be reinforced and supported so that it is in a position to meet future business needs in government. In an increasingly networked world, the performance of older equipment is inadequate and inflexible, it is expensive to buy and operate, and is rapidly becoming obsolete.
The IA Technical Programme (IATP) seeks to put this situation right. As well as keeping our secrets secret and protecting government from electronic attack, a key goal is also to enable the wide spectrum of users of sensitive data to work more flexibly and efficiently, as their counterparts in the private sector are already able to do. To achieve its aims, IATP will deliver a new commercial approach for acquiring IA solutions and new ways of working in government, and create an envirnoment where:
Up to the end of FY07/08, the programme&039;s focus is on delivering capability to manage the information risks of those Departments coming under the greatest threat. Underpinning the Transformational Government agenda and a refreshed national IA Strategy, IATP's scope will then incorporate a new and wider range of UK IA capability needs under Comprehensive Spending Review 2007 (CSR07).
