The e–Government framework for Information Assurance (IA) provides IA policy and guidance to support the development, procurement, provision and maintenance of these services by, or on behalf of, government. This framework will aid those responsible for e–Government service provision on behalf of central government departments and their supporting agencies, non–departmental public sector bodies, local authorities and other public sector bodies.
The e–Government IA framework sets out a method to assure the availability, integrity and confidentiality of e–Government services, with particular consideration for the identity registration, enrolment and authentication processes which underpin access to these services. Application of the framework will help to protect the private information of citizens and organisations and promote trust between service providers, enabling information–sharing between services to support citizens' needs.
Although we have consulted widely in the development of this document we are still keen to gather views from across both the public and private sectors. We are conducting a 12 week online public consultation from 19th December until 13th March 2007.
Please send us your comments on the ‘e–Government Framework for Information Assurance’ document. We would particularly like to hear from IT and IT security Managers, senior managers with responsibility for IT and information assurance, departmental security officers, IT security vendors and service providers.
