About CSIA
Government has recognised what there is a need for a strategic and coordinated approach to protecting the nation’s information systems. The CSIA in the Cabinet Office plays a role in puling together all various projects going on across government and looking at any gaps or overlaps that might need to be addressed. It works with partners across government and the private sector, as well as its international counterparts, to help maintain a reliable, secure and resilient national information infrastructure.
Our aims
- To provide a strategic direction for Information Assurance (IA) across the whole of the UK
- To co-ordinate and complement the activities of parties contributing to IA
- To sponsor activities that benefit the development of IA
- To accredit pan-government systems and in some cases such as the Government Secure Intranet, own the risk to shared information
- To identify and address vulnerabilities of national telecommunications systems and progress their resolution through a work programme, in conjunction with government departments or other involved organisations
