How to make a nomination

This page explains how to go about nominating someone for an honour.

1. The first step is to get a copy of the nominations form and the accompanying guidance notes. You can download and print them off from this website (below). Alternatively, you can write, telephone or e-mail us requesting paper copies to be sent to you.

Our contact details are as follows:

E-mail: ceremonial@cabinet-office.x.gsi.gov.uk

2. Secondly you should read the guidance notes carefully and complete the form as fully as possible. Ensure that you have the required letters of support. You may wish to consider the information presented in the Deciding the matter and Pen pictures sections.

3. The third step is to return the form to us. You can send it to the above address or you can fax it. However, we cannot accept e-mails at the current time as we require a signed copy.

4. You will need to be patient as it takes at least 18 months to collate and verify all the information you have provided. Additionally you should bear in mind that competition is fierce and there is no guarantee that your candidate will be successful.

If you would like a copy of these guidance notes in Braille please contact us as above.
