Ministerial team responsibilities

The Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and Minister for the Cabinet Office has overall responsibility for, and gives strategic direction to, the Cabinet Office, focusing on better regulation and the continuing public service reform agenda.

Jim Murphy, Parliamentary Secretary, supports the Minister in the full range of Cabinet Office responsibilities, with particular emphasis on the following areas:

Ian McCartney, Minister without Portfolio, provides the Prime Minister and the rest of Cabinet with strategic thinking on policy and the values under-pinning it. He acts as an interface for the Government with the Labour Party and is also involved in the core decision-making processes of the Government, with membership of the following Cabinet Committees:
