Mark Harper, Minister for Political and Constitutional Reform

Mark HarperMark Harper is Member of Parliament for the Forest of Dean.

Biography

In Opposition, the Minister was Shadow Minister for Defence (December 2005-July 2007) and Shadow Minister for Disabled People (July 2007-May 2010).

The Minister grew up in Swindon, where he attended Headlands School and Swindon College.  He went on to Brasenose College, Oxford and graduated in 1991 with Upper Second-Class Honours in Politics, Philosophy and Economics.

The Minister qualified in 1995 as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG and, until 2002, worked for Intel Corporation in a variety of roles including finance, business operations and marketing before establishing his own chartered accountancy practice in the Forest of Dean.  He also served as a Governor at Newent Community School from November 2000 to July 2005.

He is married to Margaret and they live in Newham Bottom in his constituency.

Outside of work, he enjoys travelling, keeping fit (including taking long walks with his two Labradors) and cinema.
