The Prince’s Mayday Network, convened by Business in the Community, is a collaboration of businesses at all stages on the low carbon journey: some leading, some just starting out. Named after the international ‘Mayday Mayday’ distress signal and founded by HRH The Prince of Wales in 2007, our aim is to  inspire, engage, support and challenge as many businesses as possible as they work together towards a sustainable future.

The Mayday Network publishes its first Annual Report

Mayday Annual report 2010 The report indicates that businesses are at the heart of the sustainability revolution and showing the world how exciting different ways of living and working can be. Innovative new business models and ways of working, many of which are showcased in the report, can contribute to collectively shaping the new, sustainable economy. In turn, this will help to create a future where business and society can prosper in a healthy environment.

Mayday businesses come from all sectors and range from the smallest micro to the biggest multi- national, and all bring their own unique story. Together we are tackling climate change and resource depletion and creating a route map for a better way of working. We’re all on a journey, and we’re taking our suppliers, employees and customers with us.

Past activities of the Mayday Network have focused around an annual Summit on May 1st but since 2009 we have developed into an everyday movement and really taken off. Numbers of Mayday businesses have almost doubled in the past twelve months, and we hope to welcome and support thousands more businesses in the coming months and years.

Businesses are uniquely placed to collaborate, share and lead the  transformation towards a sustainable future, and we are here to help by providing easy access to the  knowledge, tools, contacts and inspiring stories they need to progress along their journey.

Created as a UK initiative, the Mayday Network is now gaining momentum internationally. Working through the Global Partner Network we launched our first ‘country Mayday Network’ in Chile in 2009, with Accion RSE Interest from partners around the world has been phenomenal, and we look forward to updating on international plans as they develop.
