Science in Government liaises with government departments and agencies on scientific and technical key issues, to ensure that scientific evidence is applied effectively to policy making.

This role is very important in issues that cross departmental boundaries, such as emergency planning, and climate change. Science in Government also networks extensively with leading scientists and organisations with an interest in a particular policy area, to ensure that the views of stakeholders are taken into account.
