Environmental Regulations

The Environmental Regulations team works closely with Defra to represent business interests in the development, domestic implementation and enforcement of certain European waste and environmental legislation and has overall responsibility for specific Producer Responsibility Legislation and related issues.

The Environment Regulations team is responsible for a number of so-called "Extended Producer Responsibility" regulations that derive from European Legislation.  These Regulations ensure that producers of specific categories of products and equipment take full reponsibility for the finance treatment, recycling and reprocessing of these items when they reach end of life and is consistent with requirements agreed in Europe.  We also deal with legislation that is intended to encourage the eco-design of certain products.

Additionally the team work with Defra to ensure that the interests of business are taken into account in development of wider waste and recycling policy and on the naturtral environment in areas such as air and water quality.

Click on the list of Regulations for more information on those likely to affect your business.
