Low carbon skills consultation

31 Mar 2010

The Government has launched a new skills consultation to ensure UK businesses are equipped to take advantage of low carbon opportunities.

This consultation sets out the Government’s key skills priorities, and the challenges which must be met if we are successfully to:

  • Enable British workers and businesses to take advantage of the opportunities in those sectors that are key to reducing our carbon emissions
  • Embed the necessary skills across all sectors to move the UK to a low carbon and resource efficient economy

In announcing the consultation, Skills Minister Kevin Brennan also announced co-funding of up to 2,500 wind energy apprentices.

This follows the Government’s commitment to co-fund up to 1,000 nuclear sector apprentices, in light of Cogent’s report.

The consultation closes on 23 June 2010.
