The publishing industry employs around 209,000 people, representing approximately 43% of the Creative Media workforce.
The workforce is generally very well qualified with nearly half holding an undergraduate or equivalent qualification. However, this drops to one third in the newspaper sector where areas such as sales do not always specify qualifications.
