A Standard Individual Export Licence (SIEL) allows the export of:

When making a SIEL application, an exporter must provide original end user documentation. More information is available on the End-User and Consignee Undertakings for SIELs and OIELs guidnce page.
SIELs are normally valid for 2 years but can be revoked.

Exporters whose applications for SIELs have been refused have the right to appeal which they must do so in writing within 28 days of the refusal letter.
Companies are liable to receive compliance visits from ECO if they hold SIELs for electronic transfers of software or technology. Find out more details about compliance visits.
Exporters should be aware that there are legal penalties for exporting controlled goods without a licence. More details can be found on the HMRC website.
