Changes to controls on export of UK dual-use goods

NOTICE TO EXPORTERS 2010/03 - 26 January 2010

AMENDMENT TO THE EXPORT CONTROL ORDER 2008 (THE 2008 ORDER)

1. The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills has made amendments to the 2008 Order. The relevant amendments appear in:

2. The amendment Order makes a number of changes. Details as follows:

  • electro-statically powered explosive detectors are added to the list of dual-use goods in Schedule 3 to the 2008 Order which are goods subject to UK export control for strategic purposes. The newly controlled detectors will require a licence to be exported to any destination in Afghanistan or Iraq
  • Also clarify that goods, software and technology listed in Schedule 3 require a licence to prohibited destinations even if going via a third country.

3. The UK Strategic Export Control Lists (the Consolidated List version) will be amended to reflect the changes.
