The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform has re-issued the Open General Licences following the adoption of the new Export Control Order 2008 (“the 2008 Order”).
The Open General Export Licences (OGELs) and Open General Transhipment Licences (OGTLs) are being re-issued and amended so as to refer to the new Articles and Schedules from the 2008 Order. The opportunity has also been taken to clarify, where necessary, the provisions for suspending the use of the licence.
In addition the two Open General Trade Control Licences (OGTCLs) are also being re-issued and amended to reflect the move of light weapons into Category B.
The above re-issue and amendments will enter into force on 6th April 2009.
