"Responsible Exports" - ECO film - watch online!

NOTICES TO EXPORTERS - 2009/03 - 9 March 2009

The Export Control Organisation has launched a short information awareness film which aims to briefly and simply explain export controls and the need for companies and individuals to take action to obtain a licence if necessary.

The film is accessible via BERR’s YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/berrtube) as well as embedded into ECO’s website.

Watch the "Responsible Exports" - ECO Film

Background

The film is aimed principally at business customers especially working in sales and marketing, shipping or operations and directors who might only be vaguely aware that export controls are relevant to them and their work. The film is also aimed at export control managers and administrators who can use the film in advocating to their organisations the need for solid export control compliance procedures.

Export Controls impact on a wide range of industries and sectors, not just the arms and defence sectors.

John Doddrell, Director of the Export Control Organisation said, “This an exciting project for ECO and an opportunity for us to engage with our customers and the general public in a new way”.

The film delivers the export control message in an accessible, visual way.

The film complements ECO’s range of services, information and advice which incorporate:

  • Providing an efficient and responsible licensing system
    • SPIRE - A single access database for all licence applications
  • Licensing and Rating Advice
    • Provision of web-based databases: Goods Checker and OGEL Checker
    • An advisory service on licensability of goods - the Rating Enquiry Service
  • Making Export Control Understandable
    • Provision of a range of guidance documents
    • Delivery of Training and Seminars programme
  • Updating and Informing
    • Guidance issued via our website and our regular Notices to Exporters bulletins on export control issues.
