Following the review of the Export Control Act 2002, including feedback received from the public consultation exercise, the Government decided to makes changes to the secondary legislation on UK export controls. To ensure that these changes came in to effect at the earliest opportunity they are being introduced in three tranches. The first two tranches were introduced through amending legislation in April and October 2008.
The third tranche will see the introduction of the Export Control Order 2008 (S.I. 2008 No 3231). This new order comes in to effect on 6th April 2009. It will:
To assist exporters to understand how these changes to the legislation may impact on their activities we have updated existing guidance or prepared new guidance on these areas of the controls. This guidance is now or will shortly be available on our website.
Important – Please note the new controls do not come in to effect until 6th April. If you are undertaking any activity prior to that date please refer to the current guidance which is still available on our website.
