How we can help you

The Action Single Market Centre  (ASM) aims to resolve cross border problems in the most efficient way and we will do this informally through our contacts in including other SOLVIT Centres and the British Embassies in the relevant Member States. Occasionally we will assist in a formal complaint to the Commission. All enquiries and complaints are treated in confidence.

We will examine the information provided and once it is established there are grounds for a complaint we will pursue your case using SOLVIT. We will acknowledge your complaint and keep you informed of our progress.

SOLVIT is an informal dispute resolution mechanism and as such proposed solutions are not binding on the complainant. If the complainant remains dissatisfied with the outcome they are able to take the matter further using formal procedures.

There are certain instances where SOLVIT is unable to help. These include:

• where legal proceedings are already underway;
• where deadlines under national law need to be respected to maintain rights
• where the problem is a business-to-business or business to consumer one.

Examples of some of the problems SOLVIT can deal with include:

• Market access of goods
• Recognition of Professional Qualifications,
• VAT issues
• Car registration,
• Voting rights,
• Border control,
• Public procurement,
• Establishment of a company
