The purpose of this consultation is to gather information and views from interested parties, including those who may be affected by the proposed amendments to the Conduct Regulations, on a package of measures designed to clarify lines of responsibility between agencies and hirers, further reduce regulatory burdens, target abuse and ensure that essential protections remain in place for the most vulnerable agency workers.

The Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) is seeking views on a new scheme to compensate former Icelandic trawlermen for the collapse of the deep water fishing industry following the Cod Wars of the 1970s.

The Directive was adopted by the European Parliament on 22 October, and published in the Official Journal on 5 December 2008, with a maximum three year implementation period. The Government hopes to introduce the necessary legislation in the current Parliamentary session. This will be preceded by a full consultation with interested parties on the options for implementation and, in the light of responses, a date for entry into force of the regulations.

Open consultation to review the current ways for which tips are used in payment of the NMW. It is intended to invite comments from employers, workers and consumers, to form a picture of the current arrangement to assist the Government in determining the precise nature of any regulatory change relating to the treatment of mandatory and non mandatory service charges, tips, gratuities and cover charges in payment of the national minimum wage and how improvements to information to consumers might be achieved.
