To facilitate secondary research and to preserve its data for the future EMAR deposits its major survey datasets with the UK Data Archive (UKDA). Researchers, students and teachers from any field, organisation or country may register with the UKDA to download datasets and supporting documentation.
The 2008 survey creates for the first time a single source which covers workers awareness of their rights and the support available, the problems experienced in the workplace and how these problems get resolved. The new survey combines two earlier surveys run in 2005.

Coverage: 4,000 recent or current employees in Great Britain.

Latest iteration of a survey which explores the use of maternity and paternity leave and pay provisions, and mothers’ and fathers’ return to work after having a baby.
Method: Telephone survey with mothers and fathers who had a baby in December 2003.
Coverage: 2,500 mothers in Great Britain

Method: Computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI) with random sample of cases from Employment Tribunals Service database.

The Department sponsors a module each year on employment related topics in this Annual Attitudinal Survey run by the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen). Core questions include measures on representation at work, employment relations and work/job attitudes.
Method: Face to face interviews (CAPI) in the homes of individuals, plus additional self-completion questionnaires.
Coverage: Approx 4,000 individuals drawn from the GB Postcode Address File.
Outputs: Annual Report published by NatCen. Periodic reports on employment related matters published by EMAR.

A large-scale national survey of employment relations practices in workplaces across Great Britain. Features a linked employer-employee dataset and a panel survey (1998-2004).
Method: Face-to-face interviews with HR managers and employee representatives, a self-completion survey of employees and a self- completion survey on financial performance. More on WERS 2004
Coverage: Cross-section interviews with 2,295 workplace managers and 984 employee representatives. Self-completion questionnaire by 22,451 employees. Panel interviews with 938 managers from workplaces surveyed in WERS 1998.
Outputs: Three reports based on the primary analysis of WERS 2004
