Consumer Direct is a free telephone and on-line advice and information service for UK consumers, initiated by the Department of Trade and Industry and supported by the Office of Fair Trading. It provides clear, practical advice to help sort out problems and disagreements with suppliers of goods or services. It's really helpful.

As part of it's ongoing improvement consumer advice it now deals with postal and energy enquiries in conjunction with Consumer Focus.

The Consumer Direct website offers advice and information on a range of topics, and allows consumers to submit complaints and feedback online. It also has useful template letters you can adapt for putting a complaint in writing (recommended).
