How business can challenge red tape
Business is a vital partner for BIS in the fight against red tape. We need business to tell us which legislation and policies are too burdensome, too bureaucratic and too unwieldy – those which sound like a good idea but simply don’t work out in the real world.
There are many ways in which business can get involved:
- Speak to your trade association. We are in frequent contact with major trade associations. Some of these are represented on our Ministerial Challenge panel. This is chaired by Minister Stephen Carter and gives business, the Better Regulation Executive and other Government departments the opportunity to challenge significant BIS policies and regulations as they develop.
- Speak to your contacts in BIS, including your Business Relations contacts.
- Respond to consultations on BIS policy and legislation through our web page.
- Join a sector-specific group, such as the ‘VIPER’ forum for the automotive industry or others which give business and industry a chance to discuss upcoming regulatory developments.
- Sign-up for Business Link’s regulation updates to help you prepare for new legislative developments.
- Join the Small Firms Consultation Database for a chance to comment on new policies with an impact on small business.
- Monitor EU developments using the Commission's work programme.
- Check out EU consultations on the EU 'Your Voice' Consultations Page
