The Risk and Regulation Advisory Council

As of 16 January 2008, the Better Regulation Commission was disbanded, and the Risk and Regulation Advisory Council (RRAC) was established.

The RRAC will be located in the Department of Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, and will focus on public risk. Its aims are to:

  • work with ministers and senior civil servants to develop a better understanding of public risk
  • work with external stakeholders to help foster a more considered approach to public risk and policy-making.

Ministers may also seek advice on particular issues from time to time.
