Assessment of the UK Labour Market

The global economic downturn has had a particular impact on the extent and nature of demand for specialist ITEC skills. Cutbacks in investment by businesses in ICTs have led to job losses from the electronics industries to IT software and services and demand for skilled workers remains depressed.  Market and technology changes, particularly in telecoms, are also changing the nature of job roles and the skills required to perform them.
