Training for Knowledge Transfer Practitioners (KTTP)

This competition addressed the acknowledged shortfall in context-based training. It has enhanced the delivery of  PSRE 2 and HEIF 2 by ensuring that there will be enough suitably trained professionals in the HEIs and PSREs.

Up to £1m was made available to fund projects to address the shortfall in context based training provision for knowledge transfer professionals across the UK.  Eligible activities included provision of training, course materials and associated support (information exchange, mentoring, sharing of best practice and signposting of provision) for knowledge transfer practitioners working in HEIs, public sector research institutions, and industry at the business-HEI interface, across the UK.

This is a need that had been identified by the Oaklands Review of Business Interface Training Provision (BITS).

The £1m fund has been allocated to a consolidated bid submitted by the Association of University Research & Industry Links (AURIL), the UK University Technology Transfer Training Programme Praxis and the Universities Companies Association (Unico).  The distribution of funds between the three organisations is:

AURIL £490,000

Praxis £355,000

Unico  £155,000
