Better Regulation

Next Section / Previous Section / Back to first page

Context

The Government is committed to cutting red tape for business, the public and voluntary sectors. Proportionate, risk based regulation can help provide protection and deliver significant benefits for businesses. Better Regulation is about striking the right balance between regulation and protection without disproportionately increasing costs or deterring compliance.

Actions & Deliverables

The Actions & Deliverables required to meet this overarching target are reflected in individual Government Departmental Simplification Plans. New construction-specific initiatives have not been introduced and so a table of Actions and Deliverables has not been presented in this chapter.

What can industry do?

Government wants ideas or suggestions on how regulations impacting individuals or organizations can be improved, be it a way to reduce the time it takes to fill in a form or addressing overlaps between regulations. Proposals for regulatory simplification can be posted directly to the website: http://www.betterregulation.gov.uk/. This provides businesses and the public with an opportunity to influence the way Government regulates. Every idea or suggestion submitted to this website will be published, as will all Government responses.
