Better Regulation Policy
How the Government tries to achieve the aims of the better regulation agenda, to eliminate obsolete and inefficient regulation, create user-friendly new guidelines and tackle inconsistencies in the regulatory system.
The Government’s better regulation agenda aims to eliminate obsolete and inefficient regulation, create user-friendly new guidelines and tackle inconsistencies in the regulatory system.
To achieve these ambitious goals, we need regulations that:
- are easy to understand and simple to follow
- complement, not complicate, the way people work
- keep the UK competitive.
The Government aims to achieve this by:
- using targeted measures to simplify and improve existing regulation
- communicating more clearly with businesses, to help them understand what they must do to comply
- carefully assessing the impact of any new regulations
- working with the EU to improve European guidelines.
The Better Regulation Executive can now also reduce burdens by fast-tracking orders through Parliament under the Legislative and Regulatory Reform Act 2006.
This section of the site looks at the work being done to implement the better regulation agenda, both in the UK and across Europe.
