Emerging Technologies

The purpose of the Technology Strategy Board’s focus on emerging technologies is three-fold:

Providing the opportunity for businesses to take advantage at an early stage of some of the exciting research that is taking place in the science base.

To identify research at an early stage which shows real commercial potential
To raise awareness of the research with businesses in the UK which have the capability to take advantage of it
Through Government support, to help remove the risks of early stage investigation

Three initial emerging technology areas have been selected for investigation:

nanomedicine
quantum information processing
smart and adaptive optics
