Changes to Licence-Holder's Name and/or Address

Export licences are not transferable and may not be altered except by the Export Control Organisation (ECO) of the Department of Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR).  However, certain minimal changes can be made by us and you should follow the advice below.

If you are a holder of an extant export licence i.e. SIEL, OIEL, OITCL or SITCL and your company changes its name for any reason you should notify the ECO in writing as soon as possible.

The ECO will need to know:

  • the licence number(s) affected
  • the new company name/address
  • the name and address of the new owner (if applicable)
  • and the new Companies House registration number (if applicable).

Upon receipt of this information ECO staff will advise the appropriate action to replace the affected licences.

Details should be sent to the Export Control Organisation as follows:

Licensing Unit
3rd Floor
1 Victoria Street
London SW1H 0ET

It is a condition of most Open General Licences that the ECO should be notified of changes to licence holders' name and or address. In this instance details should be sent to the Export Control Organisation's
