National Authority Advisory Committee - Terms of Reference

To Committee assists The Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform (BERR), with its task of ensuring that the Chemical Weapons Convention and the Chemical Weapons Act 1996 are implemented effectively in the UK. BERR takes in to account the cost and resource constraints and the necessity to avoid unnecessary and excessive regulation. In particular, the Committee will advise on:

  • The effectiveness and efficiency of the compliance measures required to implement the Convention and the Act;
  • The effectiveness of the monitoring measures operated by the BERR;
  • Technical developments which may have potential application in chemical weapons;
  • Matters related to the reception of incoming inspections;
  • The preparation of the Annual Report.
