  • 1991 to 2007: Professor in Applied Population Biology, Imperial College, London.
  • 2001 to 2004: Head of Department, Department of Environmental Science and Technology, Imperial College, London.
  • 1998 to 2001: Director of T H Huxley School of Environment, Earth Sciences and Engineering, Imperial College of Science, London. The College restructured into conventional Faculties in 2001 and the School was dissolved.
  • 1994 to 1997: Director of Centre for Environmental Technology, Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, London (ICCET). The centre was merged with the Huxley School in 1998.
