Trading Standards Performance Measures

The Performance Measures and supporting contextual information have been introduced to assist service review and improvement. The Measures and contextual information aim to provide Local Authorities with the opportunity to benchmark their performance and make valid comparisons with like authorities encouraging continuous improvement.

Trading Standards Performance Measure Data 2006/07

The completed data return for the 2006/07 performance measures has now been published and can be viewed here. As in previous years, Authorities have been grouped according to their type (London Boroughs, County Councils etc.) and for comparison, an average score for each measure has been calculated for each group.

Data Requirements 2007/08

Authorities should be aware that there are no changes to the data requirements for 2007/08. There will be a new local government performance framework in England in 2008, but we will still be collecting the current National Performance Framework (NPF) returns for 2007/08. This return will contribute to CPA 2008 in England.

Updated NPF performance measures guidance is now available (see Related Documents) including some FAQs that were raised last year.

Questionnaire Spreadsheet 2007/08

The 2007/08 questionnaire spreadsheet is available for download (see Related Documents). There is little change from last year's spreadsheet.

It is important that the macros in this Excel spreadsheet are enabled. Because some Council security settings prevent this direct from a website, please right-click the link on the right and chose [Save Target as..] to save the spreadsheet to your computer. Please check your settings in Excel under [Tools] [Macros] [Security].

Authorities have until 5 July 2008 to send in their 2007/08 returns.
