Consultation on the implementation of European Commission Directives 2005/84/EC, 2005/59/EC and 2005/90/EC concerning the prohibition of phthalates, toluene and certain carcinogens, mutagens and substances toxic to reproduction (cmrs).
This consultation seeks your views on the implementation of three European Directives through one set of Regulations. These measures are being taken to ensure the public is safeguarded from the risks to its health from possible exposure to phthalates in toys and childcare articles, toluene in adhesives and spray paints and those dangerous chemicals classified as cmrs. Views on all aspects of the implementation are invited, particularly on any impact the measures may have on industry and the consumer.
As no substantive responses to the consultation were received, there is no formal Government response. The proposal as defined in the consultation document is implemented by Statutory Instrument S.I. 2006 No. 2916 The Dangerous Substances and Preparations (Safety) Regulations 2006 which entered into force on 15 June 2007.
