The BERR Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) provides guidance to UK business on bribery law and in managing the risks of international corruption. We promote leading UN and OECD best practice standards for avoiding bribery and support Government procedures to safeguard public money from being tainted by contact with international corruption. Internationally, the ACU represents the UK at the OECD Working Group on Bribery and supports DFID in their work helping developing countries tackle corruption and take forward the UN Convention Against Corruption.
The Government is developing a comprehensive strategy for tackling foreign bribery. This strategy will build on the solid foundation we have established through previous Anti-Corruption Action Plans (see related documents at the right of the page). Law reform will be the keystone of this approach and the Government has committed to publish a draft Bribery Bill for pre-legislative scrutiny during the current Parliamentary session. The ACU supports Jack Straw as the Ministerial Anti-Corruption Champion driving this work forward.
