Nuclear Development Forum

Sizewell B Nuclear Power Station, Suffolk

The NDF has been established to lock in momentum to secure the long-term future of nuclear power generation in the UK. It will support and advise the Office of Nuclear Development (OND) in its role to build and maintain the UK as the best market in the world for companies to invest in nuclear power by bringing together Government with key industry stakeholders to ensure that that there is regular and high level contact between all parties on the issues that matter the most to potential investors and operators.

The Forum will bring together the nuclear industry with Government to facilitate dialogue and engagement in order to:

  • Ensure the OND is aware of industry’s views on the facilitative actions required to deliver new nuclear investment in the UK
  • To advise Government in developing the right framework, consistent with energy policy goals, to secure the long-term future of nuclear power generation and a globally competitive supply chain in the UK, including ensuring that effort is being directed in all necessary areas
  • Bring challenge and hold the OND to account for delivery of its programme of work including the facilitative actions set out in the White Paper

The Forum, which will meet three times a year, is chaired by the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change. Membership is from senior representatives from the nuclear industry including vendors, operators, key suppliers, contractors and unions involved in the industry, and Government.
