Amendments to Certain OGELS April 2007

NOTICE TO EXPORTERS

  1. The Department of Trade and Industry has amended a number of Open General Export Licences (OGEL). Details as follows,
  • OGEL (Computers);
  • OGEL (Cryptographic Development);
  • OGEL (Export for Repair/replacement under warranty: Dual-Use Items);
  • OGEL (Export After Exhibition: Dual-Use Items).

The above licences have been amended by excluding Bulgaria and Romania from the scope of the licence. This is as a result of them joining the EU and no longer requiring a licence to export these dual-use goods within the Community.

  • OGEL (X).

The above licence has been amended by excluding Bulgaria, Lithuania and Romania from the scope of the licence. This is as a result of them joining the EU and no longer requiring a licence to export these dual-use goods within the Community.

  • OGEL (Oil and Gas Exploration: Dual-Use Items).

The above licence has been amended following a reassessment of the country cover.

  • OGEL (Chemicals).

The above licence has been amended by excluding Bulgaria and Romania from the scope of the licence and adding a number of newly controlled CWC chemicals to the goods schedule. This is as a result of them joining the EU and no longer requiring a licence to export these dual-use goods within the Community and an expansion of the chemical controls.

  • OGEL (Access Overseas to Software and Technology for Military Goods: Individual Use Only).

The above licence has been amended by extending to cover software and clarifying the definition of “individual use”.

  • OGEL (Military and Dual-Use Goods: UK Forces deployed in embargoed destinations).

The above licence has been extended to cover acts under the Trade in Controlled Goods (Embargoed Destinations) Order 2004 and to also include Lebanon and Sudan.

  • OGTL (Postal Packets);
  • OGTL (Sporting Guns).

The above licences have been amended to remove references to imports from Iraq.

  • OGTL (Dual-Use Goods: Hong Kong Special Administrative Region).

The above licence has been amended to remove references to imports from Iraq and to add the new CWC chemicals to the goods Schedule.

The amended licences will come into force on 23rd April 2007.
