The Export of Radioactive Sources (Control) Order 2006 No. 1846
Change to Schedule 2 (destinations concerned) of the OGEL
DTI/ECO are pleased to announce the inclusion of Argentina and Iceland to Schedule 2 of the Radioactive Sources OGEL. The new OGEL is available on this website.
OGELs allow the export of specified controlled items by any exporter, removing the need for them to apply for an individual licence, provided the shipment and destinations are eligible and the conditions are met. Each OGEL contains conditions about the type and destinations of goods that may be exported and exporters should check these on each licence before using it.
This OGEL for Radioactive Sources permits, without further authority, but subject to certain conditions, the export of the items specified in Schedule 1 of the OGEL from the United Kingdom to any destination specified in Schedule 2 of the OGEL.
The licence will not apply however, if the exporter knows or has grounds to suspect or has been notified by the Secretary of State, that the export will or may lead to the carrying out anywhere in the world of acts of terrorism or serious crime.
An exporter who exports goods under the authority of this Licence must, before his first export under the Licence, "inform the Secretary of State of his intention to export goods under this Licence" - ie registering to use the licence - and of the address where copies of the said records may be inspected. (See document in right hand column for more details of registration.)
This notification should be sent by email, clearly marked "Radioactive Sources" in the email's title, in writing or by fax to:
