EC Regulation Adopted July 2005

The European Commission proposal for a new Council Regulation on trade in equipment and products which could be used for capital punishment, torture or other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment, which was the subject of an earlier ECO Notice in July 2003, has now been adopted.

The details are as follows: Council Regulation (EC) No. 1236/2005 (O.J. L200, 30.7.2005)

The new Regulation will come into force 12 months after the day of its publication in the Official Journal.   It is available on the EU official journal website (see link in right hand column).

Another Notice to Exporters with more information on the content of the Regulation and its implications for exporters will be published shortly.  For both these later Notices see details in right hand column.
