How to get Involved

Public consultations

There will be two public consultation periods over the course of the feasibility study. These will, together with our ongoing stakeholder groups and meetings, provide an opportunity to input on the assessments and recommendations to date:

  • 26 January - 23 April 2009

We are now seeking views on:

  • the scope of the Strategic Environmental Assessment that is being carried out within the feasibility study

  • which of the 10 possible Severn tidal power schemes under consideration will be short-listed for detailed impact assessment during 2009
  • how the feasibility study is being conducted, the issues it is considering and how these are being approached

Please visit the Severn Tidal Power webpage

  • 2010 – Consultation on the evidence gathered and Government recommendations. This will include consultation on the environmental report, which will contain all the information specified by the SEA Directive.

Stakeholder groups and events

There are a number of feasibility study stakeholder groups and events, including our:

  • Parliamentary Forum (quarterly meetings for MPs, Lords and Welsh Assembly Members)
  • Regional Forum (quarterly meetings for local government and representatives of the local environmental and business community) – see terms of reference and members on the right hand side of this page
  • Regional Stakeholder Events (approximately quarterly events alternating between Cardiff and Bristol). The last event was held on 23 July in Cardiff.
  • SEA steering group and SEA technical workshops

We also aim to send out a monthly news update – please e-mail us at severntidalpowerunit@decc.gsi.gov.uk if you would like to be included on the circulation list.
