The Aim of the PSRE is to enable public sector research establishments to develop their capacity to exploit their science and technology potential and to provide seed funding to support the very early stages of business formation from ideas emerging out of research in the public sector science base.

The first round awards worth 10m was announced in October 2001.

Second round awards worth £15m were announced on January 16 2004.

Third Round awards worth £25m were announced on January 24 2006.

Fourth round awards worth over £30m were announced on June 23 2008.

DIUS runs an annual survey of knowledge transfer activities in PSREs, copies of which are available in pdf format on the right-hand side of the screen.
