BBC Licence Fee
On 18 January 2007 Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell made an oral Statement to Parliament detailing the BBC license fee for the six year period 2007 - 2012/13.
BBC's New Royal Charter Sealed and laid in Parliament
The Royal Charter for the continuance of the BBC, which was accepted by Her Majesty The Queen in Council on 19 July and printed on vellum, has now been sealed and laid in Parliament. The new arrangements will take full effect on 1 January 2007. Until then, certain transitional arrangements will operate and the current Charter will remain in force.

Willingness to Pay for the BBC research report published
On 14 September 2006 the Work Foundation published the Willingness to Pay for the BBC research report which was commissioned by DCMS.
This research will be considered alongside the other evidence collected by DCMS as part of the process of setting the future licence fee settlement level.

Framework Agreement Approved by Parliament
The Framework Agreement between the Secretary of State and the BBC was approved on 10 July following a debate in Parliament. It will come into force when the new Charter is sealed.
Final Agreement Between the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport and the British Broadcasting Corporation, DCMS, July 2006 is now available online.
Further Revised Drafts of the Royal Charter and Framework Agreement
On 3 July, a further amended version of the Draft Charter and the final draft of the Agreement between the Secretary of State and the BBC have been published for debate in the House of Commons. The revised documents embody further work by the Government. The approval debate on the Agreement is scheduled to take place on 10 July. The Charter will be submitted for approval by Her Majesty in Council in a separate process.

Government responds to Second Lords Select Committee Report on Charter Review
On 3 March, the Lords Committee on Charter Review issued its second report "Further Issues for BBC Charter Review". On 8 May 2006 the Government issued its response to that report.
BBC Licence Fee Seminar
On Friday 5 May DCMS held a seminar, which was chaired by Lord Burns, on the key issues that underline the future level of the BBC licence fee.
