British Army (Germany) Rugby
Season 2008-2009

British Army (Germany) Rugby

BA (G) ShieldWith over 20,000 serving Army personnel in Germany we have a thriving and developing rugby community on the continent. British Army (Germany), BA(G) Rugby for short, has an evolving policy of rugby for all. Due to operational commitments flexibility is the key to ensuring rugby does not stagnate and all three component parts of the game are covered centrally - playing, refereeing and coaching.

BA(G) has again amended the league structure to run one league for this season. All fixtures count to gaining an end of season league position with a ruling of maximum only two matches against any one opponent. The aim is to give meaningful rugby for all. The British Army(Germany) Challenge Cup (BA(G)CC) is the Premier cup competition and the two Germany finalists will enter the ARU Community Cup at the quarter final stages.

For Units not reaching the BA(G) CC Semi finals, a further Shield competition is run and the Germany winners of this competition will enter the quarter finals of the ARU Community Shield.

On the representative front regular fixtures take place with emerging nations Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, Germany and Luxembourg. BA(G) also has a very successful representative Sevens squad which will again play in the Singapore Sevens this autumn. Eleven players in three seasons have gone on to represent the Army.
