Halifax
We guarantee to put you at ease as soon as you walk through the door – so please don’t hesitate to come see us.
You’ll probably sit down for a chat with a soldier like Staff Sergeant Simon Middleton. Not keen on a mundane civilian job, Simon had wanted to join the Army since as far back as he could remember – eager for the excitement, new challenges, overseas travel and good pay. And with many year’s service behind him so far, Simon’s Army career has certainly matched his early aspirations.
The message is, you’ve nothing to lose by coming in for a chat.
When you get here
We wear uniforms with name badges, so we’re easy to spot. And we don’t mind whether you come in wearing your work clothes or jeans. We’re more interested in you – the things you’re good at and why you’re considering the Army. So it’s very informal, we’ll simply have a chat and tell you about the wide variety of Army jobs available: such as chefs, tank crewmen, nurses, vehicle mechanics, electricians and so on. It’s the first step to helping you decide if the Army is the right choice for you.
Ask us anything
Most of our visitors have questions about the training, career opportunities, travel prospects and what the pay is like. We’ve got the answers to these and all your other questions.
What happens next?
You’ll probably have loads to think about after our first chat – and you can always drop by again if you want to. Then, if you want to take things further, we’ll first weigh and measure you to check your Body Mass Index (BMI). Then arrange a formal interview for you and give you an Army Contact form, an Army DVD and your application pack to take away. We can also arrange your British Army Recruitment Battery (BARB) test.
