Personal Development

Having the time of their lives
There's more to the Army than drill and polishing boots. After training, soldiers and officers can look forward to a rewarding career and a lifestyle with unrivalled opportunities to travel, enjoy adventurous training, play sport, and make friends for life. The Army has a serious job to do, but it understands people need time to enjoy themselves too.

Opportunities and new horizons

A soldier's skills are in demand right around the world, so the world is where they will be going. The Army has a permanent or semi-permanent presence in many countries, with training exercises humanitarian and military operations take place regularly around the globe.

Adventurous training activities extend this scope for travel further - for example, rafting in Kenya, scuba diving in the Caribbean or even climbing Everest.

The Army also gives young men and women the chance to work with people from different countries, and experience different environments and cultures. Few of these opportunities are open to youngsters working in the civilian world.

A soldier's other family

The Army combines one of the most exciting day-jobs with a rewarding career path, an action-packed lifestyle and a great social life. Whatever your child is doing in the Army, you can be sure they won't be doing it alone. The level of camaraderie that exists in the Army is rarely found elsewhere. Soldiers are taught to look after each other from day one. It's like being part of a close team and caring family all rolled into one.
