THE JOURNAL

The Yorkshire Regiment Journal

The Regimental Journal is issued automatically to all serving personnel in the regiment.  All retired personnel and others who wish to subscribe to the Journal by completing the Standing Order Mandate Form and returning it to Editor at RHQ Main.  It will be published in October and April each year at a cost of £10 per annum, including postage.  If you would like to contribute an article or advert to the next issue please send it to RHQ Main (preferably electronically) at least one month prior to publication (mid-September or Mid-March).  An invaluable addition to your knowledge of this working regiment.

THE YORKSHIRE REGIMENT ASSOCIATION

Yorks (OR) Cap Badge

Mission Statement of the Association - To promote a spirit of comradeship and pride in the traditions of the Regiment and its antecedent regiments.

Lapel Pin-Badge, Membership Card and Diary - On joining, every member will receive a lapel badge, membership card and 2007 diary for only £5.

Membership - There are many members of all three antecedent regiment regimental associations (Prince of Wales's Own, Green Howards and Duke of Wellington's) who belong to other ex-servicemens' organisations e.g. The Royal British Legion, Normandy Veterans, BLESMA, etc.  There is no reason why an individual cannot belong to their current association as well as The Yorkshire Regiment Association.  In the years to come, when there are sufficient members in a town or area, they could join together as a branch.  In the mean-time there will be one, central branch maintained by RHQ in York.  Full membership is open to any member of The Yorkshire Regiment and antecedent regiments, including Territorial Army and Cadet personnel and those who were in previous affiliated units e.g. The Yorkshire Volunteers.  Associate membership is open to all wives, partners, widows and friends of the regiment.

Infrastructure - When there are sufficient full members we wll hold an inaugral general meeting and will produce draft membership rules for discussion.  There will also be an opportunity at that meeting to begin the process of electing an executive committee and discuss the activities which the Association wishes to hold.

How to Join - Write to C2 Regimental Affairs Officer at RHQ Main; or phone (01904) 461018, or E-Mail (yorksregtaffairs@btconnect.com) if you wish to join.  Alternatively, download the Association Application Form or we will be send the application form to you along with your pin badge, membership card and regimental pocket diary.  You should return the form with a cheque (payable to "The Yorkshire Regiment Military Trust") or £5 cash as your joining fee, which will cover the cost of the above-mentioned goodies and postal costs during 2007.  It would help the Military Trust to reclaim some Tax if you would kindly download and complete the Gift Aid Form.
