THE REGIMENTAL FORMATION DAY - 6TH JUNE 2006
Message from Her Majesty The Queen
"Please convey to the Officers and All Ranks of The Yorkshire Regiment (14th/15th, 19th, 33rd/76th Foot), assembled for the Formation of their new Regiment, my thanks for their message of loyal greetings and best wishes for a most memorable occasion."
Message From The Colonel-in-Chief, HRH The Duke of York
"The Colonel-in-Chief conveys his best wishes to the Colonel of the Regiment, the Officers and All Ranks of The Yorkshire Regiment (14th/15th, 19th, 33rd/76th Foot) on the occasion of the Formation of their new Regiment on Tuesday 6th June 2006.
Message from The Colonel of The Regiment, Lt Gen JNR Houghton CBE
"The Yorkshire Regiment is an amalgamation of three historic Regiments,
The Prince of Wales's Own, The Green Howards and The Duke of Wellington's (West Riding). United in one elite Regiment of Regular and Territorial Soldiers we intend to be at the forefront of all that is best in the modern British Army.
The Regiment will reflect a sense of belonging to Yorkshire and the common Yorkshire Values of honesty, fairness, toughness and pride. The formation of the Regiment on the 6th of June, 2006, is an historic day for Yorkshire and all Yorkshire people, who can take justifiable pride in generating the only county Regiment in Britain's Armed Forces."
Message from Commander TMC Cyrer Royal Navy, HMS York
"I would like to extend my warmest congratulations and wishes for the future success to The Yorkshire Regiment on your Formation Day on 6th June 2006. Whilst we deploy today to join the NATO Standing NRF Maritme Group in the Mediterranean, rest assured that my Ship's Company and I offer our very best wishes from our standpoint as a proud former affiliate of the Prince of Wales's Own Regiment and commited friend of the newly merged Regiment.
It will always be my great pleasure to host soldiers from the Regiment in HMS York, to reciprocate the unfailing warm welcome we receive in out home county. In the words of the Ship's motto, and that of Edmund Langley the First Duke of York, may I wish you 'Bon Espoir' - Good Hope." (30 May 2006)
