THE MERCIAN REGIMENT : THE HEART OF ENGLAND'S INFANTRY

From the lands between the three great rivers - The SEVERN, MERSEY and TRENT

As from 1st September 2007, 3 Regiments from the Prince of Wales Division and two TA Regiments will form The MERCIAN Regiment, these Regiments are - 1st Bn The 22nd (CHESHIRE) Regiment, 1st Bn The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment, 1st Bn The Staffordshire Regiment,  The West Midland Regiment (V) and The Kings Cheshire Regiment (V) .  The new Battalions will be known as:-
1st Battalion The MERCIAN Regiment (CHESHIRE)
2nd Battalion The MERCIAN Regiment (WORCESTERS AND FORESTERS)
3rd Battalion The MERCIAN Regiment (STAFFORD)
4th Battalion The MERCIAN Regiment (Volunteers)
